This was drawn for my friend, silkchemise (who is AMAZING), felt like drawing something that always bugged me when it came to ep 11. Why didn’t Korra and Asami say bye to each other? Anyways, hope you guys like it! Here is a super hq version just because!
Bless the flawless people involved in this whole thing
Sometimes I just stop and think about the missed opportunities concerning Korra and Asami. What if Korra had met Asami before the bending bros? Meeting each other on their own and not through a boy. Think about the friendship. They both are probending fans, what if Asami invited Korra
on a dateto a probending game?? WHAT IF??
the’d be best friends and after a while THEY’D BE THE MOST BEAUTIFUL COUPLE EVER. No, seriously they’d be such a big thing: the Avatar and a non-bender, and two awesome, powerful women. Sometimes I weep with sadness for the perfection that could have happened.
“korrasami fans fetishize lesbians!!!!!!”
“lesbians in mass media only exist to pleasure a hetero male gaze, therefore communities of women who write femslash fanfic because they wish to see people of their sexualities represented through media they enjoy are FULFILLING THE MALE GAZE TOO!!!!!!!”
“lesbians in the legend of korra fandom do not exist!!!!!”
“it is impossible for a woman who feels an erotic attachment/sexual attraction towards other women to exist in fandom and ship a femslash couple!!!!!!!!”
“queer people do not write fanfic or participate in femslash fandom!!!!”
“lesbian ships interfere with the canon het pairing so they are WRONG!!!!!”
“i am a straight makorra shipper…LET ME TEACH YOU ABOUT QUEER IDENTITIES!!!!”
“people who ship korrasami fetishize lesbians”
“people who like asami hate korra because she has brown skin”
“people who like korrasami enjoy seeing korra sexually humiliated”
Yeah, god forbid some of us non-straight women might like to read PWP or pure smut to see two hot chicks sexing. Sometimes I just want a good porn fic, does that make me someone who fetishizes lesbians? I feel like such a bad lesbian now.
Ok, I feel like I’m making this whole mini-rant about me but I LOVE Asami and I’m pretty sure my skin is as brown as Korra’s… Oops, but I forget that if we criticize Korra for doing all the stupid shit she did in the last episodes, it’s just because we are racists and hate on POC (even thought I’m pretty sure there’s no white people in this whole universe)
Not even touching this one. Because all the Korrasami fans are the same of course.
I swear people like this make me feel ashamed of having Korra as my favorite character. Be a rational stan, please. And bless the God Warrior
“You can’t knock me down!”
It’s been over a month since ‘The Legend of Korra’ ended its first season and during this time I’ve reflected on many aspects of the show. The stuff I liked and the stuff I didn’t like, but during all this reflection I keep going back to this line. “You can’t knock me down.” Now, this line isn’t from ‘Korra’ it’s from its predecessor ‘Avatar: The Last Airbender.’ But it clearly illustrates to me what is alternately the most disappointing and infuriating failing of the first season of ‘Korra’. And that’s the writing of the female characters.
When Katara said this line in the original show it was a moment of defiance and empowerment. It was tailored to Katara in that specific moment but in my mind it became one of the biggest mission statements for female characters in the show. In ‘Avatar’, the female characters had agency, they had development, and they had power that was manifested in many different ways. Some were love interests but being a love interest wasn’t ALL they were. They made mistakes. They fell down but the narrative allowed them to rise and be better than they ever were before. Even Azula, who ended the show broken, wasn’t that way because the show was being cruel or careless to her character. It was the natural ending of her arc that the show had been crafting for two seasons.
The key reason why ‘Avatar’ succeeded where ‘Korra’ failed is that there was a clear respect for the narratives of ladies in ‘Avatar’ that is just not there in ‘Korra.’
Everything wrong with the development in the first season of Korra… So, so, true
At the insistence of celebrated tumblr blogger daffyloins I am going to post how I think characters in both Avatar: The Last Airbender and The Legend of Korra are in the sack. I don’t know how I ended up at this point but here it goes. I suggest putting on this song 2 set the mood.
Avatar: The Last Airbender
Aang - Aang has a long dick not 2 wide but not a needle dick. He’s enthusiastic in bed but pretty vanilla. He’s the pussy eating champion like it’s his absolute favorite thing to do. Airbending out his nose so homeboy is down there for days.
Katara - Katara is totally wildcat. She’s all about scratching and biting and pulling her own hair since Aang doesn’t have any. Girl is loud as hell.
Sokka - Sokka is a total jack rabbit. It feels gr8 while it lasts but it’s always a bit short. A big fan of doggy AND froggy style.
Toph - Toph. is. terrifying. People know going in that they’re going to have a good time but that they might end up with some broken bones. She’s also totally into pissing on people.
Zuko - Zuko is very mushy like totally emotionally open. Always asking if it feels okay and if he’s hurting you. Constant ‘I love yous.’ He’s all about eye contact next level shit. And he cries if it gets too intense. The ultimate bottom bitch.
Suki - Suki is a f r e a k. The damn queen of dirty talk. She’s all ‘hey lil mama lemme whisper in ur ear.’ Girl will do damn near anything.
Azula - Azula is into hardcore BDSM lol what else? She has Ty Lee contort into all kinds of painful positions and goes to town on her with a dildo. (Because Azula/Ty Lee OTP)
Because this is canon tbh
