So… At this point, I’m pretty fed-up with these people -or to be even more clear, some Makorra shippers- who go around preaching how LGBT-tolerant and knowledgeable they are and talking about Korrasami is mostly fetishizing lesbianism and how we Korrasami shippers want to see Korra ~dominated and ~put on her place by dominatrix and sexually-experienced Asami and how the pairing comes off as bad for Korra and male-gazy and using lesbians in a bad way and etc.

TAKE A SEAT AND SHUT UP.

Please, educate my queer, lady-loving ass on how I’m fetishizing the group I belong to. Tell me more about how wanting to see Asami being a dom (by the way, are you aware than D/s dynamics are another thing? D/s relationship dynamics have different established set of rule of their own. Are you people referring to “top” Asami? What do you actually mean?) is detrimental to Korra’s character and takes away her agency, for example. Oh, because I might want to see my favorite character, Korra, being “dominated” by Asami means that I want to humiliate her. Tell me how it’s not a canonical representation of their characters. Tell me how 99% of the fans are guilty of it.

Guess what? MOST OF SHIPPING AND SEX-RELATED STUFF IS NOT IN CANON. Unless LoK is now running on HBO and has an uncensored version, we don’t know what the characters like in bed, either position or personality wise. We don’t even know IF they have sex or if they want it or how do they act in every aspect of a relationship. Who said Korra topping Asami is the more logical solution? How do we know that, idk, Mako doesn’t love pegging and being on the receiving end from Korra? In a Zuko/Sokka pairing, who can decide who’s the one inserting the penis in the other?

The point is: everyone has different interpretations of their ship, and someone who doesn’t participate in said paring doesn’t have the standing to make wide generalizations. And in the case of certain Makorra fans talking about how Korrasami is fetishizing, let me tell you something: STOP. You don’t get to tell such a big group of people that their pairing is offensive to Korra after reading (or even better, skimming over) one or two fics. And you (mostly) straight Makorra shippers don’t get to talk about how Korrasami ~fetishizes lesbianism, especially no when a lot of queer women like myself participate in this fandom and ship Korrasami.

And if you’re willing to stop being assholes, just stop generalizing on parings you don’t like. After all, I don’t go around stating that every Mako/Makorra fan is someone who doesn’t care about Korra as anything but a trophy and overlooks every flaw of Mako for the sake of a pairing created out of cheating and gary-stuism. 

And let’s be honest. Usually the reason for shipping is to see hot people together. Be it two guys, two girls or a male and female. So stop saying that people who want to see “two hot girls together” HAVE TO be fetishizing them.
